How are they doing it elsewhere?

An article on InsideHigherEd.com rounded up schools who are posting course content online - much of it free. The marquis school in the article was Yale, but others were mentioned as well. It might be worth checking out...and any tips gleaned would be welcome.

Books and how to find them...

Many thanks to JoAnne Schiavonne, who pointed out the frequency with which some texts appear in thesis papers of UArts grads. She suggested that we compile a list form the thesis bibliographies so students going through the program could get an idea of what authors and works were referred to frequently.

To do this, I've set up a group on Shelfari.com (thanks to Jenn Shanker for pointing that out). You can get a Shelfari account and join the group named UArts MFA C|P|S Book Shelf. It would be great if people would not only contribute the titles of books they think are helpful, but also write short comments on them.

Thanks again for a fascinating crit weekend. I have a little post on crits I'm working on I hope to have up soon, but please - as always - be sure to share your crit stories with one another and keep up the good work.

Best,
gb

Winter Crit and Thesis Weekend 2007

Crits and thesis presentations are this weekend. I'm always looking for ideas about how the crits can be more effective and less random, and we're hoping that the Public Presentation of thesis (on Sunday) is beneficial to all. Suggestions are welcome; post 'em here as comments. See you Friday when I roll in...
