Winter Crit and Thesis Weekend 2007

Crits and thesis presentations are this weekend. I'm always looking for ideas about how the crits can be more effective and less random, and we're hoping that the Public Presentation of thesis (on Sunday) is beneficial to all. Suggestions are welcome; post 'em here as comments. See you Friday when I roll in...

I really enjoyed the writing class review. I am in Carol's very small group and as a result we had time to present what we were researching in depth. It was very helpful to hear about other student's research, get book recomendations, and follow other's logic. I also got excellent feedback from my group on where I have been going.

I thought the thesis presentations were extremely worthwhile, although I would have prefered not to have them so early on the morning after the big party night (but I can't be the first person to whine about the logistics of the weekend, so I'll assume that the scheduling is just a nightmare.)

I would benefit from being able to listen in on other crits than my own. As it is I work alone with my mentor all semester and I would like the context of hearing what the teachers and students have to say about other people's work. As it is I got a lot out of my critiques from Sumi and Carol - but I would like to know what kind of feedback other work is getting.
